    Portland Food Finds

Hello! And Happy Fall! I have definitely taken a hiatus from the blog for the past 2 months, but work and travel had us a little consumed. We recently went on a big trip to the Pacific Northwest, and had a vacation to remember! This place was on my bucket list for a long time, and love that my sister and best friend moved out there so we would have a reason to visit. We started our trip in Portland, Oregon to see Katie; she’s busy killing it in vet school at Corvallis, but drove over to the city for a few days. The Pacific Northwest does not lack food…

    Summer Gnocchi

Happy August! Phil and I recently went on a mini family vacation to Deltaville Virginia, and had an absolute blast! We hadn’t seen his family all summer, so it was the perfect weekend celebrating birthdays and spending time with one another. I have family in Richmond, but really hadn’t seen that part of the state before. The area is gorgeous, I don’t think we could have had better weather. The days were spent by the water, swimming, sailing, or jet skiing, and I managed to dodge the nettles haha. In the evenings, we cooked delicious food and played games with one another. It could not have been a better weekend…

Food Find: Summer Shrimp Orzo Salad

This past weekend Phil and I traveled to Virginia for my cousin’s wedding, and what a beautiful one it was! We loved getting to catch up with family, and dance the night away celebrating Turner and Ginna. Ginna looked gorgeous, and the wedding could not have been more perfect! It was a quick trip, and we had to hurry back to Columbia on Sunday to get ready for the week. The heat we’ve recently had has been tough, and we both wanted something light for supper that night. We each tossed out ideas, and finally decided on some kind of salad. To make the “perfect summer salad”, I picked up…

Food Finds: Quick Grocery Store Tips and Finds

This is the season of weekend travel, and busy schedules and if you’re like us, you feel like your weekends are “go go go”. Come Sunday when it’s time to go grocery store shopping, meal planning for the week seems like a daunting task leading to the overwhelming question what to buy. This makes you either a) not buy enough and end up with frequent trips to the store or b) buy too much and things end up going bad. But I think I’ve been able to figure out how to “grocery shop” without excessive meal planning. This makes stopping at a grocery store easier when coming back into town,…

Food Finds: New York City Part 2

We had so much fun eating our way through New York, we had to make it two posts! So for today, I am featuring our favorite brunch spot and some sweet treats we had walking through the city. Brunch Walking around Sunday we discovered Anejo, a Mexican restaurant that has an amazing brunch deal. For $45 per person, you can drink and eat small plates all you want for up to 3 hours! If we lived in Tribeca, we’d be here every weekend! We didn’t do the deal because of plans later, but we tried the tacos and margaritas off the menu. This place was delicious and didn’t disappoint! The…

    Friday Finds: The Homemade Margarita

Tomorrow is Cino de Mayo, one of my favorite days of the year! You can’t beat a day where you get to eat tacos and drink margaritas all day! Cinco de Mayo also falls on Kentucky Derby Day this year, which means mint juleps and horse racing. This is going to be a wonderful Saturday! Not only do I enjoy margaritas on Cinco de Mayo, but it’s probably one of my favorite cocktails. As long as it’s made correctly! If you live here in Columbia, Tazza Kitchen (in my opinion) has the best one, and you can’t go wrong at Cantina or Publico. To me, the best margarita is the…
