This time of year is always my favorite, for some reason it feels like an exciting time as kids get out of school and the weather perks up. Summer has always meant traveling, pool parties, and grilling burgers, and could easily be my favorite time of the year. But lately I feel like summer flies by, and I’m missing out on the fun summer evenings, homemade ice cream, and backyard barbecues. This whole adulting thing is over-rated. Recently I’ve seen some bloggers making a summer bucket list, and I thought it would be a good idea to make one too. Maybe it would force me to slow down and enjoy this time of year. I highly suggest you make one for yourself, it’ll help set you in the mood and get you excited about summer fun! (Note all photos from app Unsplash!)
Ice Cream Dates
I want Phil and I to make more ice cream dates in the evenings. I love how just before sunset, time seems to slow down and the weather is perfect. Walking around the neighborhood and to the local ice cream shop sounds like the perfect way to finish the day.
One of the many perks about going to Clemson included Lake Hartwell, and summers spent in town were made off of hanging out with friends there. On days we didn’t have class or had to work, we would load up our coolers and floats, and head to our favorite dock. We would spend hours out there floating and enjoying the outdoors. It’s not too far from where we live now, and I would love to go back for just one day.
Tis the season for rose, margaritas, and pineapple drinks! This year I want to come up with my own summer cocktail to enjoy on our back porch, and share with friends. I’m up for any suggestions on how to get started with a fun recipe!
I love curling up on the porch with a good book, and I only enjoy laying out when I have something to read. Since work and busy schedules prevent a long reading list, I’m aiming to read at least 3-5 books this summer. I joined Book of the Month, and this is a great monthly book service to help keep me on track.
We love hosting dinner parties, and tis the season for fun BBQs. Phil got his green egg when we moved in, and this is the perfect time of year for fun recipes with friends!
We have Soda City every Saturday morning, and over the next few months I want to go to as many Saturday mornings as I can. I love collecting fresh produce for meals, and this is the perfect place to go! This is the perfect event to bring the community together on the weekends.
Maybe I’m feeling a little nostalgic about past summers, but I noticed the other day how quickly time can pass. And I didn’t want to miss out on our first summer in our new house. Hopefully this summer bucket list will help me be a little more adventurous and slow down this season so we can enjoy it! What are some things you would like to do this summer?
