Tomorrow is Cino de Mayo, one of my favorite days of the year! You can’t beat a day where you get to eat tacos and drink margaritas all day! Cinco de Mayo also falls on Kentucky Derby Day this year, which means mint juleps and horse racing. This is going to be a wonderful Saturday!
Not only do I enjoy margaritas on Cinco de Mayo, but it’s probably one of my favorite cocktails. As long as it’s made correctly! If you live here in Columbia, Tazza Kitchen (in my opinion) has the best one, and you can’t go wrong at Cantina or Publico. To me, the best margarita is the one with the fewest ingredients and made with fresh lime juice. No pre-mixes here!
For today’s Friday find I thought I would share our recipe for our Homemade Margaritas. You just need three ingredients: tequila, simple syrup, and limes!
- 1 to 2 limes juiced (depending on preference)
- 1 shot tequila
- 1 shot simple syrup
Mix with ice, top the rim with salt, and enjoy! This makes about an 8 oz glass. You can add more alcohol or double the recipe if you want a larger glass. Some add in agave syrup with the simple syrup or you can substitute agave syrup. I sometimes add strawberries or blackberries to make it a little more sweet and festive.
