Hello! I know, long time, no see! The month of April has been absolutely crazy, from work schedules to vacation time to settling back into our routine. I knew if I tried to write blog posts with all of that going on, things would be less than acceptable. So, the blog took a break too, but we’re back with some new ideas ahead. If you’re planning a trip to New York anytime soon, I’ll have some upcoming posts featuring our travel!
Since it’s Monday, I thought I would keep things short and sweet with a vacation recap. We took a week off to have a break from work, and we had a blast traveling to New York, Knoxville, and Clemson/Greenville! Scroll below for some pictures (which were really hard to narrow down the ones to share!)
We kicked off the week with flying into New York on Saturday morning. Flights from Charlotte make it easy to land before lunchtime, which was perfect for the prettiest day we were there. We made our way to Brooklyn for Smorgasburg, the Woodstock Festival for food. We had never been to Brooklyn before, and fell in love with it’s charm!
Sunday was spent in the Financial District and SoHo. We started our morning with the WTC Memorial and Museum, which is something you need to do when you go to New York. Be prepared, this museum was such a tribute to those lost and was a humbling experience. Afterwards, we walked to SoHo for lunch and shopping/sightseeing.
We woke up on Monday with pouring rain, so after relaxing around the hotel, we headed to the Museum of Modern Art to see “Starry Night” and a few more paintings. Once the sun came out, we walked over to 5th avenue to kill some time before seeing Phantom of the Opera that night on Broadway! I loved it so much, I didn’t want the music to end!
Our last full day was just that, full of fun walking tours around some of the stops we hadn’t seen yet. We braved the cold wind to go to Central Park and then to Chelsea Market (which included the Highline). Phil got to meet his favorite Peloton instructor and I finally got to see the Flat Iron Building. Dinner that night was repeated at our favorite restaurant from the whole trip, and we weren’t sad about it!
If you have never been to Knoxville, TN, you need to plan a trip there! We’re fortunate to have family there, and I love when we get to go visit. We got meet our precious niece this trip, who could not be more perfect! Phil’s parents also got us Cirque du Soleil tickets with them, and the show was magical to watch!
We left Knoxville to head back to South Carolina on Friday. Some of our best friends live in Clemson, and we were long overdue for a weekend trip. We all got Greenville Beer Fest tickets for Saturday, and had a blast! It was so much fun getting to catch up with everyone, and taste test beer!
Whew, guys we did all of this in a week! It was so much fun, and very needed! We spent this past week recovering and attempting to get back into a routine. Sunday night was spent as a little date night at home grilling out and enjoying some time together. Stay tuned for some more fun posts about what to do and where to eat in New York!
