This past Sunday, Phil and I were needing something tasty for lunch before our weekly grocery shopping, so we decided to check out the latest poke restaurant, Freshe Poke, in town. We were not disappointed, and we will definitely be back!
When you walk in, you can instantly order: you can choose one of their signature bowls, or build your own. Only because I have my favorites and end up changing things around, building my own is the way for me.
I love ahi tuna, so it’s always on my poke bowl, but they have a variety of options to chose from for your protein. They have chicken, shrimp, tofu, and salmon. There is also an endless array of vegetables, and Asian toppings to pair with a variety of sauces. First they will ask for your rice base, or salad, and then mix your ingredients in a mixing bowl with the sauce selection (which I personally think spreads your sauce out).
After you pick your bowl out, they have a beautiful sitting area for you to enjoy your meal. There were less people since we went in right as they were opening, but even on a busier day, the atmosphere is very nice and quaint.
I got one scoop of sushi rice, one scoop of brown rice, topped with ahi tuna, crab meat, edamame, cucumbers, pineapple, avocado, and a mix of ginger shoyu and sweet teriyaki (on left). Phil had sushi rice with chicken, corn, edamame, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeño, and a mix of volcano and house sauce (on right).
Even if I don’t have time to sit down there for a meal and need takeout, this will definitely be my new poke bowl spot from now on!
Have you had a chance to try out Freshe Poke? Any build your own bowl suggestions?
