Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year, and fun weekend celebrations! Phil had to work New Year’s Eve until 8, and we both had to work New Years Day, so we laid low and enjoyed a home cooked meal and red wine. It was perfect!

Of course, the day after New Year’s eve celebrations include everyone’s favorite meal of the day, brunch! While we missed brunch celebrations on New Years, we did go this past weekend with my sister to one of our favorite spots. I will do a dinner review there sometime in the near future.

Tazza Kitchen is a farm to table restaurant here in town that serves lunch, dinner, and brunch. There are several locations in Virginia, with only one here in Columbia, and they pick out their ingredients from local farmers and distributors. I love reading the top of each menu with their featured farms, which rotates with the season.

They have a beautiful outdoor area with a fire pit, along with heaters or fans so that you can enjoy year round!

Inside you can find the wood fire ovens that they cook majority of their menu options on. Items can include wood fired avocado, homemade biscuits, and grilled shrimp.

I couldn’t get a good picture of the brunch menu, but you can find it here. This is the most up to date, don’t forget to check out the drink options!

Brunch kicked off with traditional drinks, a Bloody Mary for myself and mimosa for my sister. You cannot go wrong with either one, they are both delicious! You can get a 1/2 carafe to share between friends, or just for yourself. The Bloody Mary is the perfect blend of spices and toppings; the whole cherry tomatoes are roasted in the wood fire oven being placed in the drink. If a brunch drink is not your choice, they have a wide variety of beers on tap, including some from local breweries.

I had my favorite salad, the arugula and goat cheese with roasted tomatoes and pecans. You can add shrimp or chicken, I am much more of a seafood person, but Phil loves the chicken. Not pictured were the side of hashbrowns that I always get!

Phil’s favorite is one of their new items, the roasted chicken burritos. It is packed full of wood oven roasted chicken, fresno, poblano, and mixes of delicious cheeses! Topped with a crema sauce and fried egg on the side, it will keep you full until time for dinner!

Katie was way too excited for her French Toast, so I wasn’t able to get a picture. But it does include housemate brioche with whipped mascarpone, just to name a few ingredients. 🙂

The atmosphere is always fun, and the restaurant itself if beautiful. It is the perfect place to catch up on a Saturday morning with girlfriends, or get together with family on Sundays!

Note: This is not a sponsored post, all opinions are my own. The feature image is an old brunch photo from our collection but, yes, they do have pizza!
